Job description and duties
General Receptionists are the first point of contact for persons visiting an organisation’s premises. A General Receptionist is typically expected to:
• Welcome clients in a friendly and welcoming manner
• Keep a record of visitor details, issue security badges and ensure return upon exit
• Guide clients to the appropriate location
• Set appointments for clients
• Handle telephone and e-mails
• Record and relay messages to staff or clients
• Deal with client queries and complaints
• Deal with incoming and outgoing post or deliveries
• Accept payment from clients
• Assist in administrative tasks such as
photocopying and filing
• Assist in ordering, stocking and provision of
office supplies to staff
• Supply relevant forms, brochures or other
