Knowledge and skills
Hotel Receptionists are expected to have:
• Knowledge of hotel management systems
• Knowledge of room rates, room categories,
hotel facilities, packages and offers
• Cultural knowledge of Malta and knowledge of the area the hotel is in (restaurants,
cultural landmarks, swimming location, etc.)
• An understanding of other cultures
• The ability to upsell
• Cash handling skills and knowledge of Point
of Sale (POS) software
• The ability to deal promptly with emergencies
or difficult situations involving hotel guests
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures
