Job description and duties
Construction Supervisors are responsible for supervising, directing and scheduling the work of construction workers. A Construction Supervisor is typically expected to:
• Supervise, coordinate and schedule construction activities
• Determine construction requirements and plan procedures by reading specifications, such as blueprints
• Oversee work progress to ensure all deadlines and safety specifications are met
• Coordinate work activities with other
construction project activities (where
applicable)
• Keep records of costs and construction
timeframes
• Interpret and explain contracts and technical
information to other professionals
• Report on work progress and budget matters
to clients
• Collaborate with the Project Manager,
Architect, Engineer and other construction
specialists
• Respond appropriately to work delays,
emergencies and other problems
• Comply with legal requirements, building and safety codes, technical specifications
and other regulations
• Report to the Site Manager or Project
Manager on a regular basis
Work environment
Although Construction Supervisors tend to have a main office, they spend most of their time working at the construction site.
