Knowledge and skills
Sheet-Metal Workers are expected to have:
• Practical and technical skills related to sheet- metal manufacture and installation
• Knowledge of the properties of different metals
• Knowledge of metal casting
• The ability to use and maintain various types
of machinery, equipment and tools, including
shears, grinders and crimping machines
• The ability to interpret technical drawings
• The ability to use computer-aided drafting
and design and building information modeling systems (in cases where automated machinery is being used)
• Business and financial skills (in case of self-employment)
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures
Transferable skills should include:
• Written and verbal communication skills in Maltese and/or English
• The ability to follow instructions
• Numeracy skills
• Organisational and planning skills
• Problem solving and decision making skills
• Time management skills
• The ability to work under pressure and meet
deadlines
• The ability to work independently and as part
of a team
