On-the-job training is typically provided by the employer.
Knowledge and skills
Community Officers are expected to have:
• Knowledge of public safety and security procedures
• Knowledge of local legislation and Local Tribunal procedures
• The ability to liaise with different government departments, Local Councils, etc.
• An understanding of human behaviour
• The ability to resolve conflicts
• The ability to use equipment such as hand
held computers
• The ability to keep a log and write reports on
any incidents which occur
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures

• Interpersonal skills
• Written communication skills in Maltese and/
or English
• The ability to follow instructions
• Numeracy skills
• Customer care skills
• Time management skills and the ability to
